National Trail Mix Day

I figured I would use this as an excuse to not only eat some delicious trail mix, but finally get out and start maximizing the use of my summer weather by actually hitting the trails and going for a hike.  I wound up doing an extremely modified hike along the Potomac River AKA barely a hike, just looking at some waterfalls.  But the view was beautiful and it was good to be outside!

National Toasted Marshmallow Day

My Sister took me out to dinner at Cosi.  Not my ideal place to eat for a meal, but they have a s’mores dessert there.  For dessert a small fire pit-esque contraption was brought out to the table along with skewers and marshmallows to be roasted!  It was a fun way to celebrate since I couldn’t go camping.

Wake up.  Grab a brush and put on a little makeup.  Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup.  Why’d you leave the keys upon the table? Here you go create another fable.

National More Herbs Less Salt Day

Today is also National Swiss Wine Growers Day.  So I just wanted to give those hard working men and women a shout out for being involved with food production.

I wasn’t sure how to celebrate this holiday at first, but thanks to my friend Michael I had the perfect dinner filled with herbs and hopefully low in sodium.  We went out for his birthday in DC and ate at a cool innovative restaurant called Vapianos.  We had dishes filled with pestoes, brushettas, and herbs.  They had an additional bowl of herbs to add to your meal, as well as an herb infused oil to add to your meal.  My day was filled with just a little more herbs than usual.

National Cherry Turnover Day

There was suppose to be a brutal hurricane today so i prepared to have all the ingredients to make Cheery Turnovers in the house, since I couldn’t go out to the bakery and buy one.  Unfortunately Irene pulled a fast one on me, and left the roads navigational, but the house with a power outage.  So my team and I had to drive around looking for an open bakery that sold Cherry Turnover.  Finally we found a Sugar-Free Cherry Turnover, but its better than nothing.
