A Crab Rangoon is a deep fried wonton filled with crab meat, cream cheese, and scallions.  It’s considered traditional Chinese cuisine, but its relatively a new invention.  The dish was invented at a Polynesian-Style bar/restaurant called Trader Vic’s in the mid 1950s.  During the tiki crazed decade a Trader Vic’s employee, Victor Bergeron, invented the Crab Rangoon as well as the Mai Tai.
